Play Marathi songs: Thackeray to FM radio stations

Mumbai: Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray has warned all private FM channels to start broadcasting Marathi songs within seven days or else 'face the music'.

"It has been noticed that many FM channels do not play Marathi songs. They should start airing them in a week or else Sena would launch an agitation," Thackeray said in a statement here today.

"Now a days anyone gets up and betrays Mahrashtra... radio stations are added to this list now," Thackeray said.

Any radio station not complying with his directive would face 'Sena-style' agitation, the Sena chief said.

Reacting to Thackeray's statement, noted musician Koustub Inamdar said, "It is good if FM channels wake up after Sena chief's remarks. What is really needed is Marathi audience listeners wake up."

Bal Thackery has gone nuts. He has nothing worthwhile as an isssue. It is greatness of people of maharastra that shiv sena never gets majority in elections.

People know that Shiv Sena dosen`t have any worthwhile cause for society, so to keep themselves in limelight they use kidish ways.

Marathi songs should be incouraged and played in music stations but not by force.

SHIV SENA WANTS MAHARASHTRA TO BECOME A COMMUNIST STATE. One day they will say stop eating samosa & pani puri because it is not maharashtrian.

marathi songs ( traditional and devotional ) are always meaningful.. with great soft music and great voices like lata, asha, usha

unfortunately , todays youth doesn`t know the essence of these true gems.. what they all know is.`` dhagala lagli kal`` and all ``contaminated`` remix music coming from the western world

request to all fm , please play original marathi songs so that one can understand how this music is rich traditionally

we should not give much importance to this issue. as fm radio is listened mostly by lonely people, down market people, careless people like todays youth. marathi music is above all this. it is rich. and you just see the kind of people working as rj`s., they are so irritating as if they are not allowed to speak at home.
if we really want to listen marathi songs, it should be a seperate fm radio station where people should talk with dignity & some sense. existing mirchi or whatever fm `s available, i dont remember the name either are all nonsense, crap.

can somebody throw thackerry family in dust bin , both are insane shiv sena and mns , they only de respect great shivaji , with his name , they give force people to do in name of marathi, marathi people are not like that , only bec of this thackerrys politic marathi name has been spolied .wht have msn and shiv sena have done for marathi mahuns as they say , only war and hatred spread all over the state ...both should be jalied and keep away from policte ,so they do not screw marathi mahus, by say jai shivaji , they cant be near to great shivaji , its the person heart , not the hatred by mns and shiv sena , pity , still people vote them ......be careful all ..this guys only think of vote back , nothing else ....plz throw bal thackert, uddav and raj , in toliet and plz fluch them .....

that`s absolutely correct. i am from goa. here in goa every fm stations plays konkani songs on daily basis. weather be it 92.7 ot 98.3 or even our very old air 105.4 fm in goa.

marathi is maharashtra`s mother tongue. the language must be given a due respect.
