Plea for bringing back Shivaji`s sword, Kohinoor diamond

A strong plea was made in the Rajya Sabha Thursday for making efforts to bring back the Bhavani sword of Shivaji Maharaj, as also the Kohinoor diamond from Great Britain.

New Delhi: A strong plea was made in the
Rajya Sabha Thursday for making efforts to bring back the Bhavani
sword of Shivaji Maharaj, as also the Kohinoor diamond from
Great Britain.

In his Special Mention, Sanjay Raut (Shiv Sena) said the
sword and the diamond were part of the national heritage and
renewed efforts were needed to bring them back.

He said India should not give up the efforts in spite of
Britain consistently declining the request citing certain
provisions in its Museum Act.

While Shantaram Naik (Congress) wanted bringing into force
Draft Sports Policy 2007, Ali Anwar Ansari (JD-U) sought
reservation for SC, ST and OBC in the bill paving way for
foreign education institutions of the country.

Baishnab Parida (BJD) wanted free journey facility to
freedom fighters and their widows in second AC of Rajdhani and
Shatabdi express trains in the country.

Praveen Rashtrapal (Congress) demanded review of the
implementation of SC/ST (Prevention of Corruption) Act, 1986
for proper administration of criminal justice.

Ram Kripal Yadav (RJD) demanded steps for revival of
Railway Wagon Factories at Mokama and Muzaffarpur in Bihar.
