PM has no moral authority to comment on corruption: BJP

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has no moral authority to comment on corruption because he is involved in the coal block allotment row, BJP MP Rajiv Pratap Rudy said here on Thursday.

Panaji: Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has no moral authority to comment on corruption because he is involved in the coal block allotment row, BJP MP Rajiv Pratap Rudy said here on Thursday.

Rudy also sought a probe into the issues raised against Robert Vadra, son-in-law of Congress president Sonia Gandhi, by India Against Corruption member Arvind Kejriwal.

"While addressing CBI officers (Wednesday), the prime minister said ways should be explored to ensure that the ambit of the anti-corruption law covers also private persons. The prime minister is involved in the coal gate scam. He has no moral authority to talk on corruption," Rudy said.

The Prime Minister had underlined the importance of stretching anti-corruption laws to the private sector, so it could take into account the "supply side" of bribery.

"The PM has been charged with monumental corruption. He has no moral authority to speak on this issue," Rudy said.

Commenting on Kejriwal`s allegations against Vadra, Rudy said: "(They) need to be thoroughly investigated."
