PM, wife pledge to donate eyes

New Delhi: Setting an example, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and his wife Gursharan Singh on Thursday pledged to donate their eyes.

Singh and Kaur signed the pledge form on the occasion of National Eye Donation day.

There are over 4.5 million visually challenged persons in the country and doctors feel that at least three million can gain their sight through cornea transplant.

Eye donation can help restore vision among the corneally-blind.

There are more than 400 organisations registered with Eye Bank Association of India which are spreading awareness about eye donation and facilitating eye donation.

A non-metered service number 1919 has been provided by BSNL and MTNL all over the country to facilitate easy access to the nearest eye bank.

These eyes can not see the Truth . These eyes can not stop/Curb corruption . These eyes are not used at all by PM .I am sure the Eyes of Crores of poeple is wide open & will surely ensure the early removal of Corrupt UPA Govt . PM , If u want to donate naything , disolve the Parliament & save the nation from the Looter Gang arround you.

I consider onething that ``Seeing happening wrong is more dangerous than acting wrong``. Our PM is more a wrong person than corrupted leaders AS He is quite despite knowing every black move in country. What the benefit of having eyes physically when you are blind by your heart

Donating an eye or other organ after death: is that a real donation? Donating the organ while the person is still alive is a real donation. How can one donate something which one doesn`t owe anymore? After death one can snatch any organ, the deceased will not be able to resist anyway. Rishi Dadheechi donated his bones while still alive!!
