Police geared for Bihar panchayat polls: DGP
Bihar Director General of Police (DGP) Neelmani on Friday said the police was fully geared to ensure successful conduct of the ten-phased panchayat polls beginning from April 20.

(DGP) Neelmani on Friday said the police was fully geared to
ensure successful conduct of the ten-phased panchayat polls
beginning from April 20.
Talking to reporters after reviewing preparations for
the panchayat polls, he said there will be elaborate security
arrangements in place for the staggered panchayat polls and
there were adequate number of policemen available.
Neelmani said a total 16,103 criminals and anti-social
elements had been arrested and 226 weapons seized from
across the state in view of the polls.
State Home Secretary Amir Subhani said the state
machinery had completed preparations for peaceful conduct of
the panchayat polls and central forces like CRPF besides state
armed police, Bihar military police and homeguard of the state
police would be deployed.
Regular meetings were being held among top police and
civil officials and strict directions have been issued to the
district collectors and special superintendents of
police/superintendents of police to ensure law and order, he
The authorities have issued warning to candidates and
their supporters against indulging in violence before or
during the polls and those found involved in such cases will
be arrested and will be prosecuted under a speedy trial, the
home secretary added.
