New Delhi: Delhi police today sought more
time from a court here to start arguments on charges against
suspected Indian Mujahideen terrorists in the cases of the
serial blasts of September 13, 2008, as they were yet to
complete the probe relating to two accused.
The investigators were yet to complete probe with regard
to the role of accused Shahzad, arrested on February one,
while the matter regarding the age of Salman, another accused
apprehended from Uttar Pradesh on March five who claimed to be
a minor, was pending decision, Public Prosecutor Rajeev Mohan
submitted before the court.
Additional Sessions Judge Santosh Snehi Mann allowed the
plea of the police and put the matter for further proceedings
April three.
Delhi police's Special Cell are to file a supplementary
chargesheet against Shahzad, who is also alleged to have
opened fire on Inspector M C Sharma, killed in the Batla house
encounter, six days after the serial blasts in the capital.
A separate court is likely to decide on an application of
Salman, who claimed himself to be juvenile at the time of the
blasts, on March 22.
The sessions court is conducting the proceedings in the
five cases registered in connection with the serial blasts
through video conferencing as 11 accused are at present lodged
at Sabarmati Jail in Ahmedabad.
One Mohd Hakim lodged at Tihar jail here was however
produced before the court.
A total of five cases were registered in connection with
the serial blasts in Delhi which killed 26 persons and injured
over 135 others on September 13, 2008.
Accused Mohd Saif, Zeeshan Ahmed, Mohd Shakeel, Zia-ur
Rehman, Saquib Nissar, Quamuddin Kapadia and Mohd Sadiq
Sheikh, who have been chargesheeted in blasts cases here, are
in Ahmedabad.
Mansoor Asghar Peerbhoy, Mobin Kader Sheikh, Akbar
Ismail Chaudhary and Asif Basir Sheikh, who are accused of
sending terror emails to different media houses minutes before
the serial blasts, have also been taken to Ahmedabad.
All the accused have been chargesheeted under various
provisions of the IPC, the Unlawful Activities (Prevention)
Act and the Explosive Substances Act.
