Police to file application to declare Pacheco absconder

Police will move application before local court to declare ex-Goa minister Pacheco an absconder.

Panaji: Goa police will move an application
before a local court on Friday to declare former Tourism
Minister Fransisco Mickey Pacheco as an absconder in the case
involving the death of his friend Nadia Torredo in May end,
police said here.

The application would be filed before a Judicial
Magistrate First Class (JMFC) in Margao town, they said.

The move comes barely hours after the Supreme Court
rejected the anticipatory bail plea of Pacheco, who has been
booked by the crime branch in connection with 28-year-old
Torrado, who died after allegedly consuming poison on May 30.

A case has been filed against Pacheco under sections 304
(culpable homicide not amounting to murder) and 201 (causing
disappearance of evidence of offence) of the IPC.

Pacheco, who was grilled by crime branch on June 4 over
Nadia`s death, has been missing since June 5.

His anticipatory bail petitions have been dismissed by
the sessions court, Panaji bench of Bombay High Court and the
Apex Court.
