New Delhi: A Delhi court on Sunday extended for three more days, till the police custody of Sukhdev Singh Namdhari, booked for the murder of Hardeep Singh, brother of slain liquor baron Ponty Chadha.
Magistrate Sunil Beniwal extended Namdhari's police custody till Dec 5.
Namdhari, a witness to the Nov 17 shootout at a farmhouse in south Delhi in which both the brothers were killed, has been booked under Indian Penal Code's Section 302 (murder) for Hardeep's killing.
A Delhi court had on November 29 extended the police custody of Namdhari for three more days, after police told it that Namdhari was booked for the murder of Hardeep Singh, brother of slain liquor baron Ponty Chadha.
Namdhari, an eyewitness to the November 17 shootout at a farmhouse here in which both the brothers were killed, has been booked under Section 302 (murder) for Hardeep’s murder, police said.
Namdhari was sacked as chairman of the Uttarakhand Minorities Commission after the shootout and the Chadha brothers’ killings in a Delhi farmhouse, and was arrested from his farmhouse in Uttarakhand on November 23.
Police had earlier accused Namdhari of being the main conspirator in the shootout case, saying that he fired at Hardeep Chadha.
Police had earlier also told the court that Namdhari had shot at Hardeep and in his disclosure statement had admitted at firing at Hardeep with his pistol when Hardeep pointed a gun at him.
The investigating agency had also said Namdhari was the main culprit since in his FIR, he did not disclose about the firing and had also hidden his gun.
Police also told the court that Namdhari was the frontman of Ponty Chadha and accused him of vandalising the farmhouse and committing loot and attempt to murder.
Namdhari went missing from New Delhi after lodging a first information report following the shootout at Chhatarpur.
He has more than three dozen cases against him, which include murder, attempt to murder and dacoity.
