New Delhi: With great power comes great
responsibility was the succinct reaction of ICICI CEO and
Managing Director Chanda Kochhar on Forbes ranking her among
the world's 100 most powerful women.
"Definitely, I feel very good about the fact. It reminds
me that there is a huge responsibility that I am carrying on
my shoulders," she told a news agency when told that she was ranked
number 20 in the Forbes list and among Indians she was second
only to Congress President Sonia Gandhi.
"So, in a way that each one of these things make me feel
more grounded to say that there is a huge responsibility on
your shoulder and please perform it with all responsibility
and proactiveness," Kochhar said.
Kochhar was named the first woman CEO of the country's
second largest lender ICICI Bank and took charge in May this
year.
"She now oversees a bank with assets of USD 100
billion," Forbes said. She was instrumental in transforming
the retail business of ICICI Bank and turning it into a
retail banking powerhouse.
