Dehra Dun: President Pratibha Patil will attend the passing out parade of 546 Gentlemen Cadets at the prestigious Indian Military Academy here Saturday.
Patil, along with husband Devi Singh Shekhawat, reached here by air and was received by Uttarakhand Governor Margaret Alva and Chief Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank.
From the airport, the President was taken in a helicopter to an IMA helipad where Chief of Army Staff Gen V K Singh, IMA Commandant Lt Gen R S Sujlana and Uttarakhand administrative
and police officials received her, Dehra Dun Superintendent of
Police G S Martolia said.
During her visit, Patil would stay at the IMA guest house
and attend the passing out parade at IMA tomorrow morning, he
said.
A total of 546 Gentlemen Cadets will pass out from IMA to
join the Indian Army as officers.
Elaborate security arrangements have been made for
Patil's visit with police personnel in plain clothes along
with Army men being deployed in and around IMA.
