Prosecution tears Kasab claim on photos, says images don`t lie

Mumbai: Refuting the claim of Pakistani
gunman Ajmal Kasab that photographs showing him in terror acts
were morphed, the prosecution in the 26/11 case today told the
trial court that images captured on camera do not lie.

During cross-examination, Kasab had disputed the
photographs shot by a media photographer Sebastian D`souza
showing Kasab and slain terrorist Abu Ismael moving with AK-56
rifles and firing at people. Kasab had argued that he was not
the same person and that his photographs had been morphed.

Special Public Prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam, in final
arguments before the court on the fourth day, described the
lone arrested attacker as one of the key perpetrators of the
carnage, saying his images had been captured on camera.

He argued that for morphing a photograph, the original
photo of that person is needed. When Kasab had arrived here
from Pakistan on November 26, 2008, the question of morphing
his photograph did not arise.

Moreover, no suggestion had been put to the
investigating officer during cross-examination that police had
photographed Kasab and then given the pictures for morphing,
the prosecutor said.

During earlier cross-examination, Sebastian had said
a photograph can be morphed.
