Puducherry: Puducherry Chief Minister and AINRC chief N Rangasamy on Saturday congratulated Narendra Modi for the BJP-led NDA`s `historic win` in the Lok Sabha polls.

Talking to reporters here, Rangasamy expressed confidence that the new government under the leadership of Narendra Modi would extend full cooperation to the Union Territory.

The AINRC had wrested the lone Lok Sabha seat here from Congress with its nominee R Radhakrishnan trouncing Minister of State in PMO V Narayanasamy.

Rangasamy said the impressive win was largely due to the faith the people in the Union Territory had in his government.

Floated by Rangasamy ahead of 2011 elections after breaking away from Congress, the AINRC contested the multi-cornered Lok Sabha poll in alliance with BJP.

On statehood for Puducherry, Rangasamy said he would lead an all-party delegation to Delhi soon to meet the new Prime Minister to discuss the issue.
