Raipur: Preparations are in full swing here to welcome the Queen`s Baton Relay (QBR) for Commonwealth Games, scheduled to reach Chhattisgarh on August 12.
State Sports and Youth Welfare minister Lata Usendi said that rehearsals for cultural programmes organised on the day are on, and a recital by a band party from Naxal-hit Naryanpur district as well as sport events, highlighting achievements of the tribal state, will be main attraction of QBR.
Nearly 2,000 students from 58 schools participated in the the rehearsals held on Wednesday, she said adding directions have been issued to concerned officials to inspect the preparation of the programmes and ensure efficient execution without any problems.
About 2,000 tribal women and children from various SHGs and cultural groups will perform on the day in the QBR, which will also see participation from 20,000 students and 3,000 spokespersons, Usendi said.
Also, preparations for 2013 National Games to be held in the state have begun, she added.
