New Delhi: The BJP on Friday said the "rag-tag" coalition being talked about for bringing it to power after Lok Sabha poll is a "charter for chaos" and such ideas had "failed" many times in the past.
"There are many talks of a rag-tag coalition. That is a charter for chaos. There had been many such attempts earlier too and all have failed," BJP leader Arun Jaitley said.
Taking a jibe at Congress, he said "when Congress talks of supporting the Third front, it is understood that it is accepting its defeat."
"Third front is a failed idea. Many times, there had been such an experiement. That is why I say it is a charter for chaos," he said.
Jaitley said the condition in which UPA is leaving the country in, a Third Front is not an idea the country needs.
"The last that this country can afford the least is a Third Front idea. The more this idea is floated, the stronger will be the need for a clear NDA mandate," he said.
He said no second or third combination or a mixture of the two can provide a strong and stable government and exhorted the voters to elect a decisive and strong government at the Centre.
"It is a special responsibility on the voters in the last two phases (of polling) that there should be such a mandate that the derailment of governance can be rectified," he said.
The BJP leader said if the issue in these polls is development, then it is leadership and stability that matters.
"If a decision is taken in this favour, then it is understandable and clear that BJP can give a stable government," he said.
Asked if BJP will review any appointments made by the UPA government like that of the RBI Governor, he said "we don`t take stands on individuals."
On possible action against Robert Vadra if BJP came to power at the Centre, Jaitley said "no decision will be taken on the basis of politics. If there is any violation of the law, it will be dealt with the agency concerned of a state or the Centre without political interference. It will be in their domain".
Jaitley also took a jibe at Law Minister Kapil Sibal, saying "the Law Minister has a lot to worry about his (Lok Sabha constituency) Chandni Chowk. He should stop worrying about larger issues."
