New Delhi: Union Agriculture minister Sharad Pawar said on Thursday that he did not see any wave in favour of BJP`s prime ministerial candidate for 2014 polls Narendra Modi. He was also of the view that Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi needed to prove himself before he was considered for a bigger role after the next Lok Sabha elections.

Talking to news channel, an ally of the Congress at the Centre, Pawar said that Rahul should have joined the UPA government under Manmohan Singh. He opined that one needed to prove oneself in administration but at the same time Pawar also clarified that he was not opposed to the Congress VP as the PM candidate.

On the outcome of 2014 General Elections, the NCP chief predicted that both the national parties, Congress and BJP, may not get enough seats to form the government but whatever the result may be, the NCP would continue to support the Congress-led UPA government.

At the same time Pawar felt that the so-called wave in favour of Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi may be more of hype and felt that those who began early were bound to be disappointed.

He also reiterated the fact that he was not going to contest the next Lok Sabha polls and dismissed any rumours of his vying for the PM post.
