Railways to launch 24 new trains today

Railways will launch two dozen new trains across the country on Friday in keeping with an announcement made in the Rail Budget for 2011-2012.

New Delhi: Railways will launch two dozen new trains across the country on Friday in keeping with an announcement made in the Rail Budget for 2011-2012.

Railway Minister Dinesh Trivedi is expected to announce the commencement of 24 new trains. The new trains list includes increase in frequency of four trains and further extension of the journey of six trains.

Bikaner-Delhi Sarai Rohilla Intercity, Jodhpur-Delhi Sarai Rohilla Express, Jharsuguda-Bhubaneswar Rajarani Express, Bhuj-Dadar Express, Puri-Secunderabad Express and Jaipur-Kamakhya Kabiguru Express are among the 24 new trains.

After the announcement by the Railway Minister, these trains will be flagged off by the local MPs and MLAs from their respective stations.

Interestingly, railway officials have dismissed the suggestion that November 11, 2011 was chosen as it is an auspicious day.
