New Delhi: North India received heavy to
moderate rainfall as parts of the region, including capital Delhi, faced disruptions in normal life due to the downpour.
In Delhi, the maximum temperature was recorded at 31.8 degrees celsius and the minimum at 25.3 degrees celsius.
A total of 43.1 mm of rainfall was recorded in the city during the day and the humidity level was 76-98 per cent.
Massive traffic jams were reported during the evening hours due to the heavy rains.
The capital has received 304.9 mm of rains this August which is 30 per cent more than normal during this month.
Uttar Pradesh received moderate to heavy rainfall over the past 24 hours as monsoon remained active over the state.
Places which received rains include Mahroni, Muzaffarnagar, Rath, Badhuna, Akbarpur, Salon, Meja, Phoolpur, Fatehpur, Amethi, Saharanpur, Deoband, Mahoba, Mawana and Moradabad.
A Central Water Commission report here said that the Ganga has crossed the red mark at Ballia while it was just below it at Fatehgarh and the Yamuna was maintaining an upward trend at Mathura.
Sharda river was still above the danger mark at Palia Kalan but has shown a decline while Ghaghra was above the red mark at Elgin Bridge and Turtipar.
