Rains in parts of north India; dust storm kills 10 in UP

Pradesh.
Traces of rains were reported in some localities of Delhi
as dark clouds covered blazing sun. The maximum temperature
was recorded at 40.1 degree Celsius, normal for this time of
the season but nearly two degrees down from yesterday`s high
of 41.8 deg C.

The minimum settled at 27.4 deg C, which was also on
the normal range. The humidity ranged from 36 per cent to 57
per cent, a MeT official said.

The weatherman has predicted a partly cloudy sky with
possibility of rain and thundershowers tomorrow. Thunder
squall is also likely in some areas.

In Uttar Pradesh, seven persons, including four women,
were killed in mishaps due to duststorm in Sitapur district,
while three persons perished in Barabanki late last night,
officials said. All died in incidents of wall collapse and
uprooting of trees.

Meanwhile, the temperature fell in many places due to
dust storm followed by light shower in the state, MeT
officials said. Lucknow recorded a day temperature of 37.1 deg
C, which was three notches below normal.
In the plains of Punjab and Haryana, overnight showers at
a few places brought down mercury. Chandigarh received 4.3 mm
of rains last night and was followed by Ambala at 0.4 mm.
