New Delhi: Light to moderate rain across North India on Monday brought some respite from the prevailing high levels of humidity.
The capital Delhi recorded 22mm of rains. The maximum temperature was recorded at 33.3 degrees celsius while the minimum was 27.4 degrees celsius in the city.
Rajasthan received light to moderate rains. The state capital Jaipur recorded 43.9 mm of rain.
Dabok and Chittorgarh recorded 12 and 9.5 mm rainfall respectively while in some other areas it drizzled since morning.
Kotkasim, Bharatpur and Mandrayal recorded 7, 5 and 4 cm of rainfall respectively since yesterday.
The Met department has predicted rains at several places in eastern and at a few places in western parts of the state during the next 24 hours.
Rains continued to lash most parts of Uttarakhand triggering fresh cloudbursts and landslides.
The Met office has predicted that current weather conditions are likely to continue for another day and some parts of the hill state, including Chamoli and Uttarkashi districts, might receive rather heavy to heavy rains during the next 24 hours.
Nuranu village of Mori area in Uttarkashi district was hit by cloudburst yesterday following heavy rains washing away cattle and damaging 19 houses, sources said.
However, no loss of human life was reported in the incident, they said.
The Rishikesh-Yamunotri national highway has been
disrupted by fresh landslides at Badia while Rishikesh-Gangotri national highway remained blocked for traffic for the 16th consecutive day today due to washing away of a connecting bridge at Gangori by cloudburst on August 4, which also left 28 people dead and hundreds of others homeless.
The continuous rains for the past three days has also affected normal life as the rising waters of several rivers like Asan, Song, Rispana and Bindal have inundated low-lying areas forcing the people to take shelter in higher areas.
Meanwhile, flood threat loomed large after two days of rains in Punjab`s Pathankote region increasing water levels in Ravi and Chakki rivers.
Due to heavy rains in seasonal streams for the last two days and increasing excessive water release from Beas Link canal, a poultry farm and Gujjar settlement near Gulpur village were washed away in the last 24 hours.
