Ahmedabad: After amusing a generation of fans with his trademark antics - somersaulting cigarette and a pair of shades tricks and romancing female stars onscreen half his age, Rajinikanth’s latest Box Office hit ‘Robot’ is all set to become a part of IIM-Ahmedabad’s syllabus.

Rajinikanth’s ‘Robot’ or ‘Enthiran’ will be a part of an elective course called ‘Contemporary film industry: A business perspective’, which will be offered in the postgraduate programme at IIM-Ahmedabad.

The film will be read as a case study to analyse the success of cinema. The course will also include another Rajinikanth starrer film ‘Muthu’, which was later translated into Japanese as ‘Muthu Odoru Maharaja’ or ‘Muthu: The Dancing Maharaja’.

Rajinikanth’s Robot/Endhiran, the costliest film ever in the Indian Cinema, is rocking worldwide Box Offices creating new records. With a collection of about RS 117 Crore in its first week, the film has broken all the records in Bollywood.

In the USA, the film has set another record with the weekend collections (in the first week) reaching $1.56 million. This is a big record for a Tamil film in the USA.

The film grossed $467,000 in the UK ranking at 9th position at the box office. Similar box office performance was noticed in the United Arab Emirates where the film collected $387,000. Going strong in Malaysia and Singapore as well, the film reportedly grossed about $800,000.

Robot/Endiran’s performance in the Hindi belt too is quite good. Despite the fact that it is a dubbed film, the response from North has been overwhelming. Though it had a slow start at the beginning, positive talk attracted more and more audience, and the Saturday’s collections went bigger than Friday’s and Sunday’s bigger than Saturday’s.
