Rajnath asks Centre to explain steps taken to control prices

Patna: Senior BJP leader Rajnath Singh on Saturday asked the Centre to explain what were the steps taken by it to neutralise and lessen price rise.

"I would like the Centre to explain what steps it had initiated to neutralise and lessen price rise as it claims to have identified the reasons behind the skyrocketing prices of commodities," Singh told reporters here.

"It is unfortunate that on one hand the Centre claims to have identified the reasons behind price rise... but has failed to do anything to bring it under control," he said.

"The tendency of prices increasing day by day is continuing but the government has not assured us, as to when it will be in a position to control the situation," Singh alleged.

It had become essential that there should be "an effective system" to control the price rise, Singh pointed out and demanded that the Centre urgently set up Price Stabilisation Fund or launch Price Stabilisation Policy to neutralise the effects and control price rise.
