Senior VHP leader Ram Vilas Vedanti accused BJP President Rajnath Singh of betraying Hindus on Ram Temple and Hindutva issues and said he will contest Lok Sabha elections from Lucknow against him.

Ayodhya: Senior VHP leader Ram Vilas Vedanti on Thursday accused BJP President Rajnath Singh of betraying Hindus on Ram Temple and Hindutva issues and said he will contest Lok Sabha elections from Lucknow against him.
The fire brand leader, who is also a founder member of Ram Temple movement, said he wants Singh to be defeated and for this he would take help from any political party.

Vedanti is a member of VHP`s high powered committee `Kendriya Marg Darshak Mandal` and also a senior member of Ram Janam Bhoomi Nyas Trust in Ayodhya.

He also said that he was in contact with different parties for their support for in the LS elections.
Vedanti alleged that now the BJP has now become a "staunch anti-Hindu party", as it has "kicked out" all those leaders who were connected with Ram Temple movement.

"Whoever takes the name of Lord Rama in BJP, he is shown the doors. BJP has left the Ram temple issue at all," he said.

Vedanti was first elected as BJP MP in 1991 from Machhlishahr Lok Sabha constituency, then in 1996 he was again elected on BJP ticket from Pratapgarh.

In 2009, he contested from Rae Bareily Lok Sabha seat on BJP ticket against Sonia Gandhi butu lost his deposits.
