Patna: LJP Chief Ram Vilas Paswan on Friday lent
support to UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi's suggestions for
taking strict steps to tackle violence being perpetrated by
Maoists in different parts of the country.
"I am in agreement with Soniaji on her suggestion to take
stern and bold step to curb naxal violence", Paswan told
reporters.
Stating that violence did not not have any place in
society, he said it would also prove to be an effective tool
to counter naxalism if concerted efforts were made to develop
the neglected and backward areas.
On the performance of the UPA government at the Centre
during the past one year, Paswan said it was "satisfactory".
"The performance of the UPA-II is satisfactory....and not
the Centre alone but the states too are responsible for the
escalating prices and rampant corruption in development and
welfare schemes," Paswan said.
Asked whether he would attend the function in Delhi
marking completion of one year of the UPA-II at the Centre,
Paswan said he was preoccupied with programmes in Bihar.
