Ranchi: Union Minister Jairam Ramesh on Thursday reiterated that guns and bullets were not the solution to any problem and there should be political mobilisation across the country.
"Guns and bullets cannot solve the naxal movement. There should be political mobilisation (in the naxal-affected districts) to address burning issues of the people," Ramesh said here.

Addressing at the valediction function of the two-day national seminar on `Decentralised Governance and Changing Paradox of Development in Rural Areas` at the Central University of Jharkhand, Ramesh informed that a total of 88 districts in the country were naxal-hit.

"(Even) Prime Minister Manmohan Singh also termed it (the Maoist menace) as the single biggest political challenge as far as internal security is concerned," he added.

Referring to education in the country, he said the interest of local people should be looked after by giving them educational opportunities.

"In my recent address at the IIM, Ranchi, I requested them to think on local issues and formulate solution as well," he added.
