Thiruvananthapuram: Union Minister for Civil Aviation and Overseas Indian Affairs Vayalar Ravi on Sunday sought to play down speculations that he was in the race for leadership in the coming assembly elections in Kerala.
"I am assigned by the leadership with certain specific engagements in New Delhi at present," he said replying to reporters` queries at a meet-the-press programme here.
The minister, however, said he had been `always been in Kerala` and would be available for the service of the people in the state if the party High Command asked him to carry out any task.
The Congress-led UDF would comfortably win the coming assembly elections in Kerala for the simple reason that the LDF government was a total failure on all fronts in the last five years, he said.
