New Delhi: Family members of several
Indian sailors held hostage by Somali pirates on Thursday met Lok
Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar who assured them that she would talk
to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on their demand for safe and
early release of those abducted.

Nearly 20 members of the sailors` families including
daughters, wives and mothers urged the Speaker to help them
out of the crisis and ensure the early release of their near
and dear ones.

Kumar, who listened to their pleas, assured them that
she would talk to the Prime Minister, official sources said.

External Affairs Minister S M Krishna told Parliament
earlier in the day that the government would everything
possible to get the sailors released but cautioned against
emotive response as it could danger their lives.
