‘Reminders sent to MPs who are yet to declare assets’

Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar on Saturday said that reminders have been sent to some MPs who are yet to declare their assets as mandated by rules.

New Delhi: Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar on Saturday said that reminders have been sent to some MPs who are
yet to declare their assets as mandated by rules.

"I have written to MPs and I have reminded them. I hope
they will be sending all the documents in the near future,"
she said when asked about what action she would contemplate on
the erring members.

In an RTI reply, the Lok Sabha Secretariat recently said
that as many as 110 MPs have not declared their assets as
against the mandatory provision to do so in 90 days which
could amount to breach of privilege of the House.

The list of MPs who are yet to declare their assets
includes names of 44 MPs from Congress, 11 from BJP, nine from
JD(U), eight from BSP, seven from SP, three from Trinamool
Congress and two from Telugu Desam Party.

"Most of the MPs have sent (asset documents), some of
them have not sent. The Lok Sabha Secretariat has been writing
to them," the Speaker said.
