India`s emergence as an Asia-Pacific and global power is in America`s interest, a powerful US Senator has said.

Washington: Observing that India`s emergence as an Asia-Pacific and global power is in America`s interest, a powerful US Senator has said that the visit of President Barack Obama to India will help strengthen the bilateral relationship between the two countries and reaffirm the unbreakable ties that binds the two democracies together.

"India is a vitally important friend and close partner of the US. India`s emergence as an Asia-Pacific and global power is in America`s interest and President Obama`s trip will help strengthen the US-India relationship and reaffirm the unbreakable ties that bind our democracies together," Senator John Kerry, Chairman of the powerful Senate Foreign Relations Committee said.
"We have the unique opportunity to partner with India on every critical global challenge, from economic recovery and climate change to counterterrorism, non-proliferation, and efforts in Afghanistan," he said in a statement.
"Our shared values and common entrepreneurial spirit can foster close cooperation in areas like education, clean energy, and the knowledge economy of the 21st century," Kerry said as he wished Happy Diwali to people celebrating the festival of lights in the US, India and across the globe.
