New Delhi: A significantly large number of Indians, with males having an edge over females, who were unemployed over past one year have found new jobs thanks to healthy market conditions, says a survey.
According to a study by MyHiringClub.com, 46 percent of the respondents who were either terminated or resigned from their jobs between June 2009 and May 2010, said that they have found new opportunities.
The survey by MyHiringClub.com, which is the Asia`s & Gulf/Middle East`s largest recruitment tendering platform, attributed the rosy job scenario to healthy market conditions.
"Indian companies are in a better financial position today than last year and are gradually increasing staff levels to meet growing market demands," the survey noted.
Incidentally, males had an edge over their female colleagues, in finding new jobs.
Among the female respondents, only 41 percent found new jobs as compared to 59 percent of their male counterparts.
Also, youths had an advantage over the aged in getting new jobs.
As per the survey, employees aged between 25 to 34 had the highest instance of getting new job opportunities at 69 percent.
In contrast, highly experienced and aged employees had to toil to find new jobs for themselves after termination or resignation than those falling in other age groups.
Employees in the age group of 52 or more had the lowest incidence of finding new jobs at 18 percent.
Interestingly, 18 percent of people who were surveyed were re-hired by their previous employers.
While 72 percent of respondents said they found full-time position, 21 percent started their own venture and 9 percent said that they found part-time jobs.
However, those who got new jobs had to compromise on the salary and location. While 43 percent of the respondents said they took a job with less pay, 23 percent found one with more renumeration than the previous one.
Moreover, over half of the respondents (52 percent), who found new jobs, had to relocate.
"The job market remains highly competitive, opportunities are opening up across all industries and job levels, new talent are flowing in and out of industries as employees apply their skill sets to new occupations," MyHiringClub.com Founder and CEO Rajesh Kumar said.
The study was conducted between March and June this year among more than 2,860 people, who were jobless from June 2009 to May 2010.
