Rosaiah meets Antony over Jagan trouble Zeenews Bureau

New Delhi: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister K Rosaiah met Congress disciplinary committee chief AK Antony supposedly over the open attack on the party leadership by a TV channel owned by Jaganmohan Reddy.

The meeting assumes significance as the party has appeared to be in no mood to let go of Jagan’s discipline breach this time around but is weighing its options before it moves against the 38-year-old party MP from Kadapa and son of late chief minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy.

Yesterday, Law Minister M Veerappa Moily, who is also in-charge of the party in the state, had termed the telecast of a programme on Jagan owned Sakshi TV projecting Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Congress chief Sonia Gandhi in bad light as a "serious issue".

"It is a very serious issue... I have received the reports from Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister K Rosaiah and PCC", Moily told reporters here.

However, he refused to answer whether disciplinary action was in the offing against Jagan and had also said that the party high command had not summoned Rosaiah to Delhi over the issue.

Taking a serious note of the issue yesterday, Congress had sought a report from the state unit, even as the channel repeated the programme without some critical captions and voice-overs.

Sakshi, the 24-hour Telugu news channel owned by theJagan had launched a frontal attack on Sonia as well as the organisation in the one-hour programme.

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh was also targeted along with the "coterie around Sonia" for the "sorry state of affairs in Congress."

Rejecting allegations that the programmes showed the Congress President or the Prime Minister in bad light, Sakshi CEO Priyadarshini Ram said the story was not against either Sonia or Singh and maintained that there was no intervention by Jaganmohan with regard to the content of the TV channel.

"It was not a story against...either Sonia Gandhi or Manmohan Singh. It was a current story that was based on the 125 years of the Congress party, how it was faring...

"Jaganmohan Reddy, on the day of the inauguration of this media house, made one specific statement saying that this channel would be unbiased, truthful and clear-headed. There is no effort from Jaganmohan Reddy or intervention by him on the content of Sakshi television," Ram had said.

He also clarified that the channel made "no change at all" in the content of the programme that was shown on Friday and Saturday and repeated the telecast at least thrice yesterday.

why could a party mp air the opinions against the party and its leader openly in the name of just analysis. when there are no elections round the corner what is the necessity of surveying in the constituency of sonia and report that all is not well for her there. is it genuine to comment on her way of talking. is jagan an orator, when nothing is said be against sonia what made the presenter to some parts in the next episode. it is the channel of jagan. no analysis of this type can be aired without the consent of jagan. can anything against jagan come in the channel or the news paper. can freedom of expression apply for such articles or stories. if he is averse with congress party he shoild first tender his resignation to his parliament membership and do as he wants. it is not correct to bring stories in his channel, enjoing the status conferred by the party.it is undoing on the part of jagan to make personal comments on leader of the party.will he accept any employee in his channel to personally criticise him.
