RSS, BJP functionaries discuss organisational issues in Thane

Mumbai: In the backdrop of serious
infighting in BJP following the Lok Sabha poll defeat, a
two-day meeting of senior RSS and BJP leaders here deliberated
on "larger issues concerning the organisation and country".

"The agenda of the two-day meeting, which concluded today
at Uttan in neighbouring Thane district, was only the larger
issues and not any specific issue," former RSS spokesperson
Ram Madhav told agency.
Those present at the meeting included RSS chief Mohan
Bhagwat and BJP leaders Murli Manohar Joshi, Sushma Swaraj and
Bal Apte and Manavendra Singh, son of expelled BJP leader
Jaswant Singh.

"Arun Shourie was invited but he could not attend due to
domestic reasons," Madhav said.

Asked if the turmoil in BJP was on the agenda of the
meeting, he said "no specific issue but the larger issues
concerning organisation and the country were on the agenda."

"Around 35 people, including RSS and BJP functionaries,
eminent thinkers and writers attended the meeting which is an
annual affair for the last seven-eight years," he said.
The meeting came after the BJP`s `chintan baithak` in
Shimla last month.

The participants included senior journalists Swapan
Dasgupta, Chandan Mitra and Tarun Vijay.
