New Delhi: Commenting on Congress leader Shakeel Ahmed`s tweet about the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi, BJP Spokesperson Meenakshi Lekhi on Sunday said that the RSS did not need certification from Ahmed to prove itself.

"I think it is important to know what all has RSS done for the country, and everyone knows that the party had nothing to do with the assassination of Mahatma Gandhi," said Lekhi.

"Also, we don`t need a certification from Shakeel Ahmed to prove that right. RSS was not involved in Gandhi`s death, and a commission had been set up on it as well to investigate the whole matter. The Congress leaders might be knowing it, if they are educated enough, or may be they are trying to hide the fact knowingly," she said.
"The Commission found out that all the facts were wrong, and even if RSS was involved in his death then why was the ban removed? In fact Ahmed`s own former party president Puroshottam Das had said that RSS and Congress should unite, why would he say that if the RSS was at fault?" she added.

Earlier in the day, Ahmed had tweeted that BJP prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi represented the ideology RSS which had killed Mahatma Gandhi.
Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi too had made the same statement while addressing a rally in Gujarat yesterday.
