RSS never directs BJP but only cautions: Sudarshan

The RSS does not indulge in "directing its people" in BJP to follow a particular line but only cautions them when they tread a wrong path, former Sangh chief K S Sudarshan said today.

New Delhi: The RSS does not indulge in
"directing its people" in BJP to follow a particular line but
only cautions them when they tread a wrong path, former Sangh
chief K S Sudarshan said today.

"Lots of people associated with RSS enter various
fields, including politics. But when they tread the wrong
path, we warn them. It is upto them to heed to the warning
signal. We never direct them to follow any particular line,"
Sudarshan said.

He was asked whether RSS directs BJP on various issues
at the time of crisis.

Sudarshan said if the BJP asks for advice, we would
definitely provide one.

He said the aim of RSS was to train people in national
interest. "The process usually takes 15 to 17 years to
inculcate certain values," he added.

As RSS chief in 2004, Sudarshan had said in an
interview that senior BJP leaders Atal Bihari Vajpayee and L K
Advani should retire from politics after the NDA failed to
return to power in the Lok Sabha elections.

Addressing a gathering at a book release function,
Sudarshan blamed English medium system for the "sorry state"
of affairs of the country.

"Today, the country`s sorry state of affairs is due to
the English medium system we follow. There is no harm in
learning English. But following the English medium system has
limited the development to urban areas only," he said.

Sudarshan, Joshi attend release of book critical of Vajpayee

Former RSS chief K S Sudarshan
and ex-BJP President Murli Manohar Joshi on Friday attended a
function to release a book which severely criticises former
Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.

Joshi was a Cabinet minister when Vajpayee was the Prime
Minister.

The book `Superpowering India` written by Air Marshal
(retd) A K Mukhopadhyaya says Vajpayee "let down India as much
as he could in the short three tenures served by him."

A press release, quoting paragraphs from the book said,
"All his (Vajpayee`s) political initiatives resulted in
fiascos for his party combine and the mother organisation RSS,
to which he used to pay opportunistic obeisance".

Criticising the tenure of the NDA Prime Minister, the
book said, "There were maximum massacres of Hindus in J&K,
LoC and in international borders during his tenures. He
nonchalantly watched or composed poems when majority of Hindus
were driven out of Kashmir valley by the resident Muslims in
connivance with the infiltrators from Pakistan and PoK".

Quoting from the book, the release also criticised the
nuclear tests saying it gave Pakistan an alibi to prove their
nuclear capability.

"He (Vajpayee) did a command performance of carrying out
six partially successful nuclear tests to provide alibi to
Pakistan to prove their nuclear capability. He, on superpower
insistence, permanently closed nuclear and missile options.

"Vajpayee`s bluff on strategic capabilities was tested by
Pakistan by occupying vasts tracts of Indian land in Kargil,"
the book said.
