Rural Development Performance Review meet begins today

The Centre will review the performance of state governments with respect to the implementation of its rural development programmes in the country.

New Delhi: The Centre will review the
performance of state governments with respect to the
implementation of its rural development programmes in the
country.

The two-day exercise of the Performance Review
Committee of the Rural Development Ministry will begin here
from today.

Union Minister for Rural Development will preside over
the meeting which will take stock of the progress made by the
states in the implementation of the schemes of the ministry,
an official said.

On the first day, Ministry will review the performance
of states with respect to implementation of NREGA and Indira
Awas Yojana (IAY)

Swarna Jayanti Gram Swarozgar Yojana (SGSY), the
preparations for BPL Census, Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana
(PMGSY) and National Social Assistance Program would be taken
up for review on Saturday, ministry officials said.

This is the first meeting of the Performance Review
Committee of the Ministry for the financial year 2010-11.

Secretaries and representatives from all the states and
Union Territories, CAPART and National Institute of Rural
Development (NIRD) will attend the meeting.

Representatives from Ministry Of Panchayati Raj,
Ministry Of Statistics and Programme Implementation, Ministry
of Finance and Planning Commission will also be present in the
two-day meeting, officer said.
