Chandigarh: The Shiromani Akali Dal on Sunday
lashed out at the Congress MP from Arunachal Pradesh for his
alleged objectionable remarks against yoga guru Ramdev saying
everyone had a right to express his viewpoint in a democracy.
"Swami (Ramdev) has not done anything wrong by talking
about large-scale corruption in the country. In a democracy
everyone has a right to express his viewpoint," SAD spokesman
and Punjab Education Minister Sewa Singh Sekhwan said.
Yesterday, Ramdev, during a yoga camp at Pasighat in
East Siang, some 280-km from Itanagar, alleged he was called a
"bloody Indian" by Congress MP Ninong Ering in full public
The lawmaker had denied saying anything against Ramdev
and claimed he had only objected after the yoga guru levelled
allegations of corruption against the Nehru-Gandhi family and
the Central government.
SAD`s ally the BJP has already condemned the alleged
remarks made by the MP.
In a statement here, Sekhwan appealed to the people to
dump the Congress in the upcoming election in Punjab and other
states for its "misdeeds like unleashing rampant corruption,
denigrating democratic values and failure to control runaway
