Mumbai: Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur, a prime accused in the 2008 Malegaon blast case, got a small relief today as the Bombay High Court said she does not have to travel to Bhopal until February 6, to appear in a murder trial there.

The division bench of Justices V M Kanade and M L Tahaliyani was hearing a petition filed by Sadhvi, seeking direction to the authorities that she be taken to Bhopal either by plane, or in an AC compartment of train. She said she was ready to bear the expenses of travel.

Her lawyer, advocate Ganesh Sovani, told the court that her health did not permit a long journey, and she had back and neck problems which made travel by sleeper coach painful.

Sadhvi is supposed to appear in Bhopal court for the trial of the case related to murder of RSS activist Sunil Joshi, in which she is one of the accused, on February 2. Sovani said he was going to to apply to Bhopal court and seek exemption for her from appearance there.

Following this, the High Court said it would hear the petition further on February 6, and till then Sadhvi would not be taken out of Byculla prison here, where she is lodged at present.
