Kolkata: Sam Pitroda, advisor to the Prime Minister on public information infrastructure and innovations, today came out in strong defence of the UPA government saying "it had done a hell lot for the people of the country.
"This government has done hell of a lot than the people realise," he said at the Indian Institute of Management Calcutta here.

He said the Right To Information was biggest step forward in the history of India. Others like Right to Education, MNREGA and Food Security were major initiatives focusing on inclusion.

"But at times lot of critics see these initiatives from a very narrow perspective," he said.

"People assume that nothing got done. So, when I hear on television people saying nothing got done I feel sorry for them that their view are so very narrow, so narrow so parochial so selfish," Mr Pitroda said.
