New Delhi: Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Naresh Agarwal said on Monday that his party will never support the Lokpal Bill, as it believed that it would not make any difference to the increasing corruption in the country and that there is a need to change our mindset.
"Will never ever support the Lokpal bill," said Agarwal.
While reiterating his party`s stand on the Lokpal Bill, he added, "We need to change our mindset not to pass such laws (Lokpal Bill)."
Yesterday, Agarwal had said, "The highest percentage of corrupt people in the country are in fact are the ones who are public workers and, if they are going to form a major chunk of the Lokpal, how will it make a difference?"
Earlier in the day, the government`s efforts to get the Samajwadi Party to support the Lokpal Bill in the Rajya Sabha appeared not to have made much headway as it kept away from an all-party meeting today called to drum up support for the legislation.
Another SP leader Ram Gopal Yadav had said that his party is opposed to the provisions of the Lokpal Bill.
However, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kamal Nath said that there will be an all-party meet again on Tuesday to discuss on passing of the Lokpal Bill in the Rajya Sabha.
