Sanand reaches Srinagar, performs puja

Environmentalist G D Agrawal aka Swami Sanand, who is agitating for scrapping of hydel power projects on Ganga, Friday secretly reached Srinagar town of Pauri district and performed puja in the ancient Dhari Devi temple.

Dehradun: Environmentalist G D Agrawal aka Swami Sanand, who is agitating for scrapping of hydel power projects on Ganga, Friday secretly reached Srinagar town of Pauri district and performed puja in the ancient Dhari Devi temple near 330 Mw Alaknanda project.
Swami Sanand, whose entry is prohibited in the areas close to river Ganga in Uttarakhand, reached secretly to Srinagar town via Kotdwar and performed puja in the temple situated in the dam site.

However, Pauri police quickly came into action and took him to Kirtinagar area of Tehri from where he was taken to some other place.
When contacted, Superintendent of Police of Tehri Janmeyjaya Khanduri said since his entry is banned in Tehri district under section 145, police left him out of the limits of the district.

He, however, denied to have any knowledge of his present location.
