Anantapur: The door of Yajur Mandir, the personal residence of the late Sathya Sai Baba in Puttaparthi, was opened once again on Monday.
The state government had ordered the re-inspection of the Yajur Veda Mandir following controversies surrounding the valuables recovered from Sai’s abode when it was opened on June 16, especially the controversy surrounding the seizure of cash Rs 35 lakh seized from two persons at a checkpost on June 18.
The inspection which would carry on till July 20 is being carried out in the presence of District Magistrate and four Sathya Sai trust members. A detailed report would be submitted to the government.
After the inventory taking on June 16, a press statement released by the Sathya Sai Central Trust revealed that the mandir contained Rs 11.56 crore of cash, 98 kg of gold and 307 kg of silver.
All these treasures were deposited with the State Bank of India.
As per reports, during the first round of inventory taking, only eight of the 12 rooms of the Yajur Mandir were opened. The remaining four are said to be under biometric locks and can be only opened using the fingerprint of the Baba’s personal caretaker Satyajit.
Apart from the stock taking, the government has also asked the Sai Trust to submit a report on its activities and transactions in the last five years.
