New Delhi: The Supreme Court today said it
cannot monitor every scheme of the Centre as many of its
suggestions are not implemented.
"We cannot monitor all schemes which also includes
Public Distribution System (PDS). All schemes of the Centre
cannot be monitored by this court," a Bench comprising Chief
Justice S H Kapadia and Justice K S Radhakrishnan said.
The remarks by the Bench came during the hearing of a
petition challenging the privatisation of ambulance services
or emergency response services under National Rural Health
Senior advocate Fali S Nariman, who was appearing in
the matter, agreed with the view of the court and said "the
question could arise that who is going to govern the country"?
However, while deliberating on the issue of ambulances,
the Bench, which at first wanted that the matter be looked
into by the respective High Courts, agreed to hear it.
"Take out time to sit down with the Centre to work out
for the disbursement of fund to state government under NRHM,"
the Bench said.
