New Delhi: With a series of land scams
embarrasing the armed forces, a Parliamentary panel on Monday said
it would take up the issue of management of defence lands and
functioning of military cantonments.
The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Defence, headed
by Congress MP Satpal Maharaj, has sought suggestions from the
public, experts and professionals on the issue within two
weeks.
The memoranda submitted to the committee would form part
of the records and will be treated as strictly confidential.
The armed forces have been hit by a series of land scams
such as the Sukna military station case in West Bengal, the
Adarsh Housing Society in Mumbai and the Kandivali land case
in suburban Mumbai.
