New Delhi: Union Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde on Tuesday said Seemandhra will be given special package immediately after the government managed to get the Telangana Bill passed in Lok Sabha.
“Seemandhra will be given a special package post bifurcation,” Shinde said reporters here.
“We had promised a separate Telangana and we had to pass it,” Shinde added.
Earlier, Shinde had made it clear that there will be no hurdle in creation of Telangana during the tenure of UPA-II.
Amid pandemonium, the Lok Sabha today finally passed a Bill aimed at carving out a Telangana state out of Andhra Pradesh.
The Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Bill was passed by voice vote in the face of noisy protests by Andhra Pradesh MPs opposed to Telangana as well as a section of the Opposition parties.
During the debate today, the live telecast of Parliament proceedings was cut off, television channels were shut and MPs representing the interests of Seemandhra were suspended.
On the decision to stop live telecast of Lok Sabha, Shinde said, "It keeps on happening."
