New Delhi: The full tourism potential of the
country is yet to be tapped and new innovative ideas are
always welcome, Union Union Tourism Minister Kumari Selja said
on Sunday as she flagged off a specially-upgraded Kerala Rajdhani
Express aimed at luring more travellers to God's own country.
The scenic grandeur of the quintessential Kerala with its
lovely backwaters, beaches and lush greenery, as well as the
state's enchanting art forms like Kathakali dance has been
depicted through vinyl-wrapping on exteriors of the Hazrat
Nizamuddin- Thiruvanathapuram Rajdhani by the Kerala Tourism.
The trend-setting advertising campaign was hailed by
Selja. "Kerala Tourism has given a new look to the Rajdhani
train to promote tourism in their state. When this train will
travel from India's north to south, all over the country, it
will inspire more tourists -- domestic or foreign -- to visit
the state," she told reporters.
"We want more people to take inspiration from such
initiatives. The full tourism potential of the country is yet
to be tapped and new innovative ideas like this are always
welcome," the minister said.
To a question, she said Kerala has given proposals for
some more projects to the Centre which will look into them in
a "positive light".
On tourism in North East, Selja said "the region is a
very attractive part of our country and we keep promoting it
from time to time. In fact, very soon at the time of SATTE
(travel fair) the government pavilion will have the theme of
North-East India.
