Mumbai: After its defeat in Maharashtra
Assembly polls, Shiv Sena has geared up to start a membership
drive today across the state.
"With an idea to have the party member in every house
and the Sena branch at every village, the drive has been
started on the birth anniversary of Mina Thackeray, wife of
Sena chief Bal Thackeray," a senior Sena leader said.
The drive would go on till January 23, the birthday of
Thackeray and the party activists have given target of
recruiting 40 to 50 lakh members this year, the leader said.
Every district would make 1.5 lakh members, he added.
The saffron ally of Sena, BJP is also running a
membership drive across the state.
