Sibal hasn`t learnt lesson from zero-loss theory from 2G: BJP

BJP also attacked Telecom Minister Kapil Sibal accusing him of "reducing the debate to the lowest level and "indulging in pure abuse" by talking about the assassination of Mahatma Gandhi.

New Delhi: Hitting back at UPA for accusing it for killing democracy, BJP on Wednesday said it was Congress party which attempted to kill democracy by imposing Emergency and charged it with creating confusion through its "zero loss" theory in coal blocks allocation.

BJP also attacked Telecom Minister Kapil Sibal accusing him of "reducing the debate to the lowest level and "indulging in pure abuse" by talking about the assassination of Mahatma Gandhi.

"Kapil Sibal has reduced the level of the debate to the lowest level...If he is talking about the assassination of Mahatma Gandhi, a point which we have always denied and which has been proven by courts of law, then it is not the pursuit of truth that he is indulging in, he is indulging in pure abuse", BJP leader Yashwant Sinha said.

He said the coal blocks loss as calaculated by CAG is Rs 1.86 lakh crore and this amount will come true if these coal blocks allocations are cancelled and auctioned.

Sinha said talking about zero loss also amounted to "dishonesty".

"It is dishonesty to talk about zero loss in the allocation of coal blocks," he said.

Rejecting the charges against BJP, Sinha said Congress had repeatedly stalled Parliament proceedings during the 12th and 13th Lok Sabha when NDA was in power.

"Were they then serving democracy"? he said, adding "today BJP is stalling Parliament on a demand on which the whole nation feels is justified", he said.
Sinha claimed "if democracy today survives in India it is largely because of the parties which are in opposition today and largely because of the role and sacrifices made by the leaders of BJP.

The BJP leader said "what Kapil Sibal has said has only strengthened our determination to go ahead with this anti- corruption campaign we have launched...Nothing is going to deter us from this. We can save democracy in this country only when this kind of corruption is brought to a halt and those who are guilty are brought to book."
