Sonia Gandhi attacks Modi govt's 100-day rule for failing to curb inflation

Congress president Sonia Gandhi on Monday criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 100 days in power while making two days visit to her Lok Sabha constituency Rae Bareli in Uttar Pradesh.

Rae Bareli: Congress president Sonia Gandhi on Monday criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 100 days in power while making two days visit to her Lok Sabha constituency Rae Bareli in Uttar Pradesh.

Gandhi, who is in Rae Bareli to launch a number of schemes, questioned Modi government's claims to bring down the inflation level.

Modi government will complete its 100 days in power on September 05.

Meanwhile, speaking to the reporters about her constituency, Gandhi said that there is only one issue in Rae Bareli– electricity and water for irrigation.

She further added that she would take up the issue with UP Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav.

The Congress president dedicated to the people roads constructed under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) and some other schemes including a 'barat ghar' (marriage hall) at Harchandpur and Bakuliha blocks.

Gandhi, who arrived at the Fursatganj airport here this morning, was later welcomed by ITI workers at the factory gate. The workers complained to her that they had not received their salaries for the past four months. She promised to take up their issues with the concerned authorities.

During her last visit in June, soon after the party’s rout in Lok Sabha polls, she had only met party workers and had hosted a dinner for them to thank them for making her victorious.

Her recent visit to Rae Bareli is being considered as bid to woo voters for 2017 Assembly elections in the state. In the last Assembly elections, Congress could not win even one of the five seats in Rae Bareli.
