New Delhi: Nearly 12 trains including a Shatabdi express and two Durontos will be flagged off on February 7 from Kanpur by UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi and Railway Minister Mamata Banerjee.

The services of some other trains will also be extended on the day.

According to a senior Railway Ministry official, while some trains will be flagged off by them from Kanpur, the others leaving from other parts of Uttar Pradesh will be flagged off through remote control.

The new trains include Kanpur-New Delhi Shatabdi Express, Lucknow-New Delhi Duronto express and Allahabad-New Delhi Duronto express, Agra-Lucknow Intercity express, Gorakhpur-Mumbai express and Lucknow-Yashwantpur express among others.

Extension in service of several trains is also expected on the same day.

While Mumbai-Kanpur Udyog Nagari express will be extended up to Pratapgarh, Howrah-Agra Cantt Chambal Express will be extended up to Mathura. Similarly, Durg-Gorakhpur express will be extended up to Nautanwa.

Banerjee had earlier said that most of the trains announced in last year's Railway Budget will be commissioned by the end of the ongoing financial year.
