Sonia calls up Sushma over Parliament logjam issue

New Delhi: Even as her party demands the Prime Minister's resignation, BJP leader Sushma Swaraj has asked the Government to announce cancellation of the controversial coal block allocations and institution of an independent inquiry.

The demand by Swaraj came when Congress President Sonia Gandhi called her last night in a bid to break the logjam in Parliament over the CAG report on coal block allocation.

Swaraj's demands are significant considering the fact that the party has been unrelenting on the demand for Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's resignation over which it has disrupted Parliament for two weeks.

"I told her that the Government should announce the cancellation of Coal blocks and institute a fair and independent inquiry," Swaraj tweeted tonight about her telephonic conversation with Gandhi who had called her up yesterday.

Her tweets make no mention of the party's demand for the Prime Minister's resignation.

Swaraj's tweet came after her followers in the micro-blogging site wanted to know the details of her conversation which she herself disclosed.

She said that Gandhi wanted the fortnight-long Parliamentary impasse to end "by our(BJP) agreeing to a discussion."

Swaraj, however, did not disclose what was Gandhi's response nor did she reply to one of her followers whether her party has dropped the demand for the Prime Minister's resignation.

Gandhi, meanwhile, left for abroad for a week for a routine medical checkup in connection with the surgery for an undisclosed ailment last year.

After being elected these public representatives become the bosses and public voice is hardly heard.Take this coal-gate, it shows clearly that there was something at the bottom that these coal mines were distributed without keeping in mind the value of coal they offer to the companies. Now the PM says he will not resign. May we say why not? You have moral obligation to quit the job for your callous action. But BJP being principal opposition has done its duty while other parties though sitting in opposition but support UPA are mum over the issue. Their role in parliament is also a matter of probe. They simply was this matter go to the cold storage. So from both side the country has been put to heavy loss. And there is no neutral authority such as Lokpal available to decide the matter. The govt. of the day want to put everything on opposition head or refer to the actions past govt. which is totally unacceptable. You run your govt at your responsibility and take responsibility over the faults. Now Soniaji meet Swarajji and they want the matter to end. This impass could be settled by appointing a neutral authority like Lok Pal for this specific purpose of coal gate. If that could happen , the BJP should let the parliament function. If the Lokpal finds that the PM should go , it will be obligatory on him to quit the post. Will the govt. be ready? Will the opposition be ready?

An illiterate meets an attorney, a waiteress meets his attorney client. First the Italian Queen instigated its MP`s to be aggresive, it did not work. Now the Italian has come with a request before an India woman leader for compromise. The remote controlled PM is quiet, he gets feed back from Sonia. He has proved to be the most NIKAMMA PM. God save India. We need Patel.Madan Lal Gupta, Harianawala

We lost confidence in MPs sitting in parliament, especially when we saw ``big drama`` during passing Jan Lok pall Bill. Whether it is BJP or Congrss or regional parties. UPA looted enough and exhousted. Now it will be NDA chance to loot !!!!. Sushma`s hands are still dirty with Ballary iron ore.

BJP has forgotten its obligation as Principal opposition party. Their obstructionism is not going to get them anywhere near the Chair of Power.
