New Delhi: Upset over her colleagues’ repeated failures to turn up during important parliamentary proceedings, Congress president Sonia Gandhi on Tuesday sought a full list of MPs who skipped the Question Hour in Lok Sabha a day earlier.

According to reports, the development comes a day after Parliament proceedings in the Lok Sabha had to be abandoned with as many as 34 members, with questions listed against their names, failed to register their presence in the House.

Only 2 out 28 Congress MPs were present on Monday during the Question Hour. In view of this, the Congress chief is likely to take up some disciplinary action against the defaulters.

It is to be noted that in the Monsoon session of Parliament, Congress chief Sonia Gandhi had directed party MPs to be present in the House after a low turnout during crucial debates came in for all-round criticism.

For the first time in two decades, Lok Sabha's Question Hour collapsed after only 34 MPs turned up prompting Speaker Meira Kumar to adjourn the House within 30 minutes of its assembling.

The Speaker also expressed serious concerns over the MPs repeated failures during such occasions.

Last time, Lok Sabha's Question Hour had collapsed in 1991. Similar developments had happened twice in 1983, five times in 1985, three times in 1988 and twice in 1989, according to Parliamentary records.

The MPs who sought to be absent even after house business was meant for them really shows that they are just in delhi for the sake of enjoyment and recreations. the Govt of india spends crores of public money for organsing sessions and M Ps taqke them casually. in my opinion the entire sessionj conduction charges should be levied on the absentees
